Silver Spring Black History Tours

In 2016 I began asking Silver Spring residents, business owners, and Montgomery County officials where I could find sites associated with the African American experience in Silver Spring.

None of the people I asked could name one inside the central business district.

I subsequently began offering tours that visit 20 sites in downtown Silver Spring where people can learn about Silver Spring as a sundown suburb and the resistance to Jim Crow and segregation that occurred there in the 1960s.
